The Celebration Of MelayuOnline.com’s Second Anniversary

Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com - The celebration of MelayuOnline.com’s Second Anniversary has just been over on Tuesday (20/01) night at Taman Budaya Yogyakarta Building, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The peak celebration was a cultural speech by Mahyudin Al Mudra, the founder and director of MelayuOnline.com. In the speech he asserted that the intention to develop Malay cultural civilization begins from an awareness of the history of Malay culture itself stretching out the long periods of time.

“Around 500 years ago, Malay was a great civilization that later on passed down so many contributions to Indonesia now. One of those contributions is Bahasa Indonesia, Indonesia’s national language,” Mahyudin’s remarks. Further he added that the glory of Malay cultural civilization has now faded out along with the inexorable wave of globalization.

The ruin of Malacca to Portuguese, Mahyudin admitted, has urged him to conduct the effort to revive the remnants of Malay civilization. “From such awareness, we began to study, publish, and develop Malay cultural civilization, which began to fade out when Malacca fell to Portuguese. Therefore, we create the new Malay world and the new Malay civilization in the form of MelayuOnline.com,” Mahyudin’s remarks.

Amongst the honoured guests was Datuk Sri Amanah Dwi Wangsa, or widely known Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X. In his opening speech, he expected MelayuOnline.com to be able to take more part in colouring the socio-cultural dynamics in Yogyakarta. He also took a great hope towards MelayuOnline.com so that it could be a medium to bridge the barrier of multifarious cultures in Indonesia.

Came also amongst the honoured guests were four kings of Malay-based kingdoms, Governor of Riau Province H. M. Rusli Zainal, MP., Vice Governor of Riau Province H. Muhammad Sani, Yogyakarta Mayor Drs. H. Herry Zudianto, and some prominent figures from Malaysia.
