Malaysians In Jakarta Celebrate Maulidul Rasul
The Atmosphere At A Celebration Of Maulidul Rasul

Jakarta - The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta on Sunday celebrated the Maulidul Rasul, which was also participated by some 120 orphans and 10 Islamic boarding schools here.

The orphans also joined hundreds of Malaysian citizens in the procession around the vicinity of the embassy in Jalan Rasuna Said.

Mukim Karet chief, Maulani, praised the efforts of the embassy and Malaysian citizens here, saying it showed their undertaking towards safeguarding the cordial relations with the locals.

A preacher from the Indonesian religious ministry, Kiyai Ahmad Syafi‘i Mufid, also praised the way Malaysians celebrated the occasion.

"I believe that Malaysia is well on its way to become a developed nation by 2020 and at the same time remains steadfast in upholding religious values," he said.

He said that Malaysia‘s achievement of the status would serve as an example of how an Islamic country could embrace modernity without compromising religious values.

Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Zainal Abidin Mohamed Zain said Malaysia, through the embassy, would always endeavour to safeguard the good relations with Indonesia.

"This celebration, which reminds us of the impeccable personality of Prophet Muhammad, is not only an avenue to strengthen unity among Malaysians but also the unity between the peoples of both countries," he said.

Zainal Abidin also handed over foodstuff such as rice, sugar and tea to the orphans and the 10 boarding schools. Mohd Nasir Yusoff
