Indonesian Orchestra To Open International Bicycle Competition

Padang, West Sumatra - The Soul of Minangkabau orchestra, led by Dwiki Dharmawan, will perform at the opening of the international bicycle competition, Tour de Singkarak, tonight at Haji Agus Salim Sport Center in Padang around 7pm.

30 students from Andalas University, 40 musicians from Padangpanjang Art Insititute (STSI), and other 20 musicians will perform at the concert.

Professional singers such as Andien, Iis Dahlia, Ita Purnamasari, Candil, Elly Kasim and Zalmon will also be performing.

Vice Governor of West Sumatra, Marlis Rahman, said that the tour will be opened by the State Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Adyaksa Dault, and Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik.

“Preparations are almost complete. Participants from Indonesia and from abroad have already arrived in West Sumatra,” said Marlis Rahman.

15 of the teams are from abroad and 10 from Indonesia.

Marlis Rahman explained that all roads used by the cyclists will be closed to other traffic during the race. Febrianti
