CHMS Launches Malay Language Month
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam--Following the successes of the Mandarin Language Month and English Language Month, Chung Hwa Middle School (CHMS) BSB launched its Malay Language Month yesterday morning at the school‘s Darussalam Hall.
The Advisor of the Board of Director of CHMS, Dr Chan Sui Kiat, in his welcoming remark stressed on the importance of Malay Language.
He said, "Malay Language has been the national language since 1959 and is widely used in the daily life in Brunei Darussalam. As citizens and residents of Brunei, it‘s our responsibility to learn Malay Language.
"With the Malay Language Month, students can take part in various activities to upgrade their Malay Language," he added.
Dr Chan Sui Kiat said, "Students have now started to realise the importance of Malay Language in the field of education and in daily life. It‘s an advantage to grasp as many languages as possible for better communication with people."
The event also saw a number of performances such as Malay culture dances and sketch, as well as songs and dikir.
During the Malay Language Month, students will be participating in various activities including essay writing, stage performances and many more. James K
