Dayak Cultures Not Yet Registered

Dayak Cultures Not Yet Registered

Samarinda, East Kalimantan - Head of the East Kalimantan Culture and Tourism Regional Office, Firminus Kunum, has said that Dayak cultures and arts in the region have not been registered yet.

He said Dayak cultures in East Kalimantan were different to those in Malaysia, especially in Sabah and Serawak, although they all had the same core.

“But there are several Dayak tribes that cannot be found in Malaysia. Dayak culture in East Kalimantan cannot be considered the same as Dayak culture in Malaysia,” said Firminus yesterday (27/8).

There are 19 Dayak sub-tribes in East Kalimantan including Dayak Tunjung, Bahau, Kenyah, Lundayeh, Punan, Tonyoi, Benuaq, Kayan, Modang, Penihing, Tidung Paser, and Dayak Kahayan. Firman Hidayat
