Cosmology is a universally systematic believes and thoughts on the humankind and universe in its totally. In another word, cosmology is about “existence”. Cosmology can be categorized into scientific cosmology, philosophical cosmology, and religious cosmology. Scientific cosmology is an effort to establish the universally cosmological concept based on scientific experiment or experience rather than ideas or theories. Differ from scientific cosmology, philosophical cosmology prefers to employ rational argumentation or ideas and theories to strengthen proposition on existence. The third type of cosmology is religious cosmology which may be able to mediate two types of cosmology mentioned above. Religious cosmology is obtained from people‘s religious believes that all “existence” should be built upon the indubitable knowledge resources such as holy books and customary-adat laws.

MelayuOnline.com would like to explain and elaborate the cosmological concept of the Malay people based on the above classification. For note that the above classification is not aimed at reducing multifarious cosmological concepts of the Malay people but is more as a universal concept.
