Dancing

Dancing is a beautiful rhythmic movement that consists of two important elements: movement and rhythm. Movement is an innate symptom and spontaneous form of human desire inside the soul; while rhythm is an arranged sound that accompanies the movement. Dance movement is, more often than not, inspired by the experience of human daily activities. Therefore, the movement has a deep emotional essence. Alongside the two important elements above, the dance is usually accompanied by the song that appropriate with the meaning and the aim of the dance. The dance that develops within the Malay culture accordingly encompasses three elements: movement, rhythm and song. The dance is usually performed whether at traditional ceremony, ritual ceremony, great harvest or merely for strengthening friendship or to liven up a special ceremony such as wedding reception. On this portal, the Malay art is divided into two categories based on both historical phase and profanity. The first category includes traditional-classical dance; while the second includes common dance and ritual-religious dance.
