Malay Literature

Nasi Dagang


Ingredients :

  • 1 kg rice
  • 2 cups thick coconut milk
  • 3 cups thin coconut milk
  • 1 tsp alba
  • Salt
  • Sugar

Directions :

  1. Wash the rice and soak for one hour
  2. Mix the thick coconut milk with salt and sugar until completely dissolved, and bring to boil
  3. Parboil the rice by steaming, take the rice, and soak with the thin coconut milk in few minutes
  4. Add alba, wait for 5-10 minutes until the milk finely absorbed
  5. Take the rice and steam for another minute until cooked through
  6. To add flavor, add chopped garlic, shallot, and ginger
  7. After the rice cooked, pour the thick coconut milk, stir finely, cover the pan with banana leaves
  8. Serve warm
