Favourite destination for tourists
Hyderabad- A Formula One race in the night, a flyer an iconic architectural marvel of a giant wheel of 43 stories offering a panoramic view through a capsule, integrated resorts, marine parks, new botanical gardens, et al, Singapore is offering these and much more to the discerning traveller this year.
Singapore offers a lot to tourists. It can be a weekend pleasure trip for the family and friends, an incentive from the company or even a business visit. It is a great place to travel as there is something for everybody. We are also continuously reinventing to provide for new experiences to repeat visitors, said Kang Siew Khang, Regional director, South Asia, Middle-East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
The city-State has become a prime destination for Indians. We are proud of it and do not take it lightly. The cultural affinity between us is another plus point, she said, at a press conference here on Wednesday. India was the fourth largest tourist inbound market with Hyderabad being the fifth largest market for the tourism industry there.
While a vast majority of visitors from India went for leisure, 30 per cent were business travellers.
The average annual growth in tourists was a healthy 14 per cent and last year it was close to seven lakh visitors. From the city, the tourist visits had shown a growth of more than 18 per cent, she claimed.
The STB also presented Sanjeev Bhandari, a working professional of the city, who had the distinction of being recognised as the 10th millionth visitor to the city-State.
