Pekanbaru City Secretary Visits BKPBM

Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com- During the visit to Yogyakarta, H. A. Fauaz Ilyas, SH., the City Secretary of Pekanbaru, could spend several minutes visiting Balai Pinang Lima – the office building of the Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture (BKPBM). Fauaz Ilyas along with the entourage came to BKPBM on Thursday (7/08/08) and were welcomed cordially by Hadi Kurniawan, Yuhastina Sinaro, and Nursaed Ali Rido.

“As long as I stay in Yogyakarta, I want to visit BKPBM as well. I am eager to know BKPBM‘s daily activities in Malay cultural preservation,” Ilyas told Mahyudin Al Mudra by phone.

The entourage enthusiastically looked around Balai Pinang Lima building wherein numerous Malay material cultures are kept well. In an occasion Ilyas asked around the definition of Malay according to MelayuOnline.com. He also reminded MelayuOnline.com to categorize Sumatra and Kalimantan as Malay.

In an informal meeting, Ilyas expressed his deep appreciation to BKPBM. “The intellectual works like this should get high appreciation and supports for sustaining BKPBM,” he added. 

In that moment, Yuhastina Sinaro explained the retinue that BKPBM has indirectly promoted tourism potencies and cultural wealth in all areas having Malay cultural background through BKPBM‘s cyber portals, MelayuOnline.com, MalayTourism.com, and RajaAliHaji.com. “We have published Riau Provincial Government profile and Riau tourism destinations on MalayTourism.com to be known and visited by people from all over the world,” Yuhastina said.

The entourage seemed to enjoy the visit to BKPBM. While having some small talks with BKPBM‘s crews, Ilyas and the retinue bought some BKPBM‘s products such as books and T-shirts.
