MelayuOnline.com`s Second Anniversary: “Shaping the Culture-based Future”
Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com- Tuesday (1/20/2009) will be the celebration day of MelayuOnline.com`s second anniversary. The celebration is now being staged by several crews of Balai Kajian dan Pengembangan Budaya Melayu-BKPBM (the Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture). It is going to be centered at Taman Budaya Yogyakarta Building, starting at 6 p.m.
For almost two years, MelayuOnline.com has been immersing deeply in efforts to preserve and develop the Malay culture. So many obstacles and supports as well as positive appreciations come to the editorial desk during that period. Therefore, this is the time to prepare all the things for the year 2009. Several programmes have been created, and all are ready steady go.
“We still do not know, and will never know, when these all will be over. Second anniversary means nothing as I personally think that we haven`t reached maturity at all,” Mahyudin Al Mudra, the director of MelayuOnline.com, at a meeting.
Further he added the celebration of MelayuOnline.com`s second anniversary is not to be a mere birthday celebration. “That will be a moment to ruminate collectively the recent situation in which a number of online media are now turning their heads on voyeuristic journalism,” Mahyudin`s remarks.
For that reason, the celebration of MelayuOnline.com`s second anniversary will be themed “Shaping the Cultural-based Future.” Pure and simple, MelayuOnline.com and its two younger brothers MalayTourism.com and RajaAliHaji.com, are expected to balance the inexorable wave of voyeuristic journalism trend in the present.
In 2009, another Melayuonline.com`s “brother” will be launched. It is CeritaRakyatNusantara.com that is aimed at delivering moral messages to the public through a number of folklores scattering over the Archipelago.
Hadi Kurniawan, MelayuOnline.com`s daily executive, viewed MelayuOnline.com`s second anniversary as a means of improving both quality and service to visitors and all people upholding cultural studies.
“The more people visiting MelayuOnline.com, the more people are wished to understand the urgency of culture itself. Hence, it is expected that the more people may take part in efforts to preserve and develop the Malay culture,” he said.
Further, Nursaed Ali Rido, MelayuOnline.com`s chief-in-editor, wished that at its age of two, MelayuOnline.com could make the number of contribution, not only to the Malay culture itself, but also to the world in general.
