Brunei Blessed To Have A Caring Monarch

Brunei Blessed To Have A Caring Monarch
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah

Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam - Citizens and residents of Brunei should be grateful that the country is blessed with a monarch and a leader who put great emphasis on peace, harmony and comfort for the people.

Yesterday`s sermon said that the monarchy system in the Sultanate has been enforced for the longest time, where the king is the head of state and in charge of the government.

The people should show their appreciation and loyalty for the monarch`s endeavour, while making efforts to know more about His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam such as his historical background (tersalasilah) and his date of birth, the sermon said.

It added: “It is every citizen`s duty to abide and accept all orders given by the government, as long as they do not contradict hukum syarah (Islamic laws). The hadith and Al-Quran, the sermon added, have cited several instances where citizens must be loyal to their heads of state.”

The sermon went on to say that since His Majesty ascended the throne in 1967, citizens and people in this country have enjoyed progress and prosperity under His Majesty`s rule. Among the facilities which has been provided included mosques, sumus, balai ibadat, higher educational institution, schools, hospitals and health clinics, to name a few.

His Majesty`s relentless efforts to ensure the country`s progress so that it would be able to compete with other developing nations and to bring Brunei on equal standing, the sermon added. It also reminds congregation that they are fortunate to become citizens of Brunei which practices Islam with His Majesty as the leader having a national philosophy of Malay Islam Monarchy (MIB).

Touching on the national philosophy, the sermon said that it illustrates that Brunei is a Malay country that practices Malay values in accordance to Islam as the official religion of the country.

“This has been embraced as the complete lifestyle, thorough and superior,” said the sermon.

As a show of appreciation towards Allah (SWT) for the blessings, and loyalty to the Sultan, the sermon urged all Muslims in the country to attend the mass thanksgiving prayers and the reading of Surah Yassin and tahlil on the evening of July 14 to mark His Majesty`s 63rd birthday at all mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide.
