Disbudsenipar Riau Attempts to Set Cooperation with BKPBM

Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com - Balai Kajian dan Pengembangan Budaya Melayu- BKPBM (Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture), was visited by the entourage of Dinas Kebudayaan, Seni, dan Pariwisata-Disbudsenipar (Riau Provincial Culture, Art and Tourism Office). The entourage arrived at the BKPBM on Thursday morning (17/04/2008). It consisted of 50 people, among the presents were the Head of Disbudsenipar Riau Province, Joni Irwan, S.H., M.H., Head of D Commission DPRD Riau Province, Ir. H. Fendri Jaswir, Head of Riau Tourism Board, Fadlah Sulaiman, S.H., M.M., and all Heads of Disbudsenipar Districts/City in Riau Province.


The entourage looked at the library room, collection of Malay articles, park, and the study of MelayuOnline.com crew. The formal meeting was commenced by the introduction of all MelayuOnline.com crew presented by the Chief Editor, Nursaed Ali Rido, M.A. In his statement, Ali Rido expressed his felicity. “The coming of entourage is a huge motivation for us to always study, develop, and publish the Malay culture to all over the world, “ said Rido before the presents.


In-line with Ali Rido, the Head of center Mahyudin Al Mudra, Sh.H., M.M., also expressed the same feeling about the visit of Riau representatives. According to Mahyudin, the visit was a chance to open the further cooperation between the two institutions in various field such as information and data exchange, advertisement and promotion in the tourism sector. It was hoped also that BKPBM would be the professional partner of Riau Province to promote Visi Riau 2020. In the vision, it is stated that Riau is envisioned to be the center of economy and Malay culture in South East Asia.

In the occasion, Mahyudin elucidated the priority programs of BKPBM for the last seven years, focusing on documenting, and publishing all about Malay world through the portal www.melayuonline.com, www.wisatamelayu.com, and www.rajaalihaji.com.

Head of Disbudsenipar Riau Province Joni Irwan conveyed a favorable impression of what BKPBM has been done in order to observe, develop, and publish the legacy of Malay culture in an advanced technology, online media. “This work has showed the world that the Malay culture can live in any place, even in the internet realm,” expressed him.

Another positive response was delivered by Fendri Jaswir. “I appreciate fully and support all activities of BKPBM. This institution is in line with the future mission of Riau in 2020, to be the center of Malay culture. The abundant data on Riau Malay, the classification system, and the design of portal in both www.melayuonline.com and www.wisatamelayu.com are the evident fact about the hard effort devoted to support the mission. Therefore, it is a must for Riau society and government to encourage, and to assist BKPBM to sustain such tremendous work,” said him.

Fadlah Sulaiman stated the same impression, asserting the importance of building network and establishing cooperation with BKPBM to create Riau as the main tourism destination in the Malay world. “Riau Tourism Board‘s main task is to concentrate on the promotion and advertisement of important sites, thus, it needs support and cooperation with other pertinent parties,” said him.

The presents also made comments and gave support to the BKPBM. In the future, the cooperation between BKPBM and Disbudsenipar would be encouraged in order to promote the culture and tourism in Riau Province.


The meeting was closed by the gift exchange between the Head of Center and the Head of Disbudsenipar Riau Province. It was concluded, from the discussion in the meeting, that both parties should work together in order to develop Malay culture, welcoming the Riau Mission in 2020 to be the center of economy and Malay culture in South East Asia.
