MelayuOnline.com is a cyber portal or database of the Malay world and all about Malay in the entire world launched on Muharram 1, 1428 (January 20th, 2007) by Balai Kajian dan Pengembangan Budaya Melayu-BKPBM (The Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture). This cyber portal is the actualization of one of BKPBM‘s programmes in revealing, collecting, preserving and immortalizing whether the dead past heritage of Malay culture or old and present Malay culture that still runs within the society. Therefore, Malay cultural heritage, which is a merely scattered mosaic throughout the world, could be tightened to become huge complete documentation of great civilization. In another word, BKPBM aims to preserve both Malay culture and Malay tradition not through the traditional ways, but through the unavoidable modern technology of information.

MelayuOnline.com is currently launched in three language versions: Bahasa Indonesia, English, and French. Only with your supports, we have planned to publish MelayuOnline.com in Arabic, Dutch, Spanish, and other languages used by people who uphold and support Malay culture in the world. Therefore, the presence of MelayuOnline.com is expected to be a medium of communication amongst the Malay people in the world so that they are able to reconstruct and develop the Malay culture to be inline with the modern global changes.
