Malay Culture

The Homeland of Malay Language

Regarding the homeland, there are two hypotheses arguing the place where the Malay language firstly emerged. Both hypotheses are equally strong in terms of arguments and evidence. The first hypothesis stated that the Central Asia was the homeland where the Malay language emerged. The second hypothesis concluded that the Malay Language originated from one of the region in Nusantara (Malay Archipelago)

Both hypotheses based their arguments and opinions on the historical and archaeological facts. However, the questions should be raised are the possibilities of other hypothesis, what are their basic arguments, and is there any data in the language that the hypotheses consider on. (SR/bhs/03/08-07)
